Charles has been a Columbia area native his whole life. Charles attended Hammond Academy for high school and Midlands Technical College for civil engineering. Charles started working at Young’s hearing aid service in 1980. He had an interest in taking over the family hearing aid business that his father started in 1953. His father, (Charlie’s grandfather), was the first Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat doctor in the Columbia area. What Charles loves most about saving hearing lives is watching the facial expressions on patients when he fits them with their very first set of hearing aids, or a new improved set and they can hear the magnificent improvement the latest technology makes in their hearing. He does not subscribe to the theory that honesty is the best policy. For him, honesty is THE ONLY POLICY. If it were the best, that means there is something else to choose from that is not honest and he cannot and will not be that way. Outside of saving hearing lies, Charles is a volunteer lay Pastor of a church for the past 11 years, is a volunteer chaplain at Lexington Medical Center. His hobbies include cooking, volleyball, flying as a private pilot, scuba diving, being an amateur radio operator, and many more.

Joy Parris joined Youngs Hearing Aid Service in May 2025 and serves as a Patient Care Coordinator and Hearing Instrument Specialist Apprentice. In her role, she enjoys helping patients feel welcomed, supported, and comfortable throughout their hearing healthcare journey while continuing to develop her knowledge and skills in hearing instrument sciences.

Joy brings a strong background in education and service to her work. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Education, a concentration in History, and a minor in Religion. She is also pursuing a Masters degree in Instructional Design and Technology.

Before entering the hearing healthcare field, Joy spent 12 years teaching in the private school sector. Her experience as an educator strengthened her ability to listen, communicate clearly, explain information in an understandable way, and work patiently with individuals and families –skills that translate naturally into patient care.

As a Hearing Instrument Specialist Apprentice, Joy is continuing her professional training in hearing healthcare and hearing technology while gaining hands-on experience at Youngs Hearing Aid Service. She is passionate about people communicating more effectively and maintain meaningful connections with their families, friends, and communities.

Outside of the office, Joy enjoys, podcasting, videography, communications and media, instructional design, traveling spending time with family, and working on creative projects.

She also enjoys serving in her church and participating in projects that strengthen families and communities.

Joy believes every patient deserves to be treated with patience, dignity, compassion, and respect, and she looks forward to hearing each person who visits Youngs Hearing Aid Service feel welcomed and cared for.

Daryl is from Savannah, GA, and has lived as close as Florida and as far as Texas in his scholastic endeavors. He is a former trucker, and currently a professional musician, small business owner, and entrepreneur, as well as a lover of all things science. He joins the team as an apprentice in anticipation of making his own mark on the Midlands as a Hearing Instrument Specialist, providing proficient patient care and excellent customer service.
